1. What did you do in 2017 that you'd never done before?
Bought a house! I am now a homeowner! Scary!!
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I can't remember what my resolutions were so I'll probably not bother this year.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Another baby for Misha and Zoe!
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.
5. What countries did you visit?
Ireland, Scotland, Belgium and bits of France.
6. What would you like to have in 2018 that you lacked in 2017?
A bit more spare time to myself. 2017 was insanely busy with visiting people and being visited by people as well as the usual amount of parties, gatherings, conventions etc. I want to put my feet up and actually play Skyrim for more than five minutes!
7. What dates from 2017 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
December 20th - completion for house all done! Woo!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Buying a house. Passing my ITIL exam!
9. What was your biggest failure?
Two months of job hunting in Manchester made me feel like a bit of a failure at times :(
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
A few nasty colds but nothing more serious than that.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
A house!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
The awesome guys over at Studio Coulrophobia for the picture they did for me as well as showing us around Antwerp :)
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Brussels Airlines/Brussels Airport! :(
14. Where did most of your money go?
Driving lessons/test which I missed because of being trapped in Belgium :(
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Job in Manchester! Trips to London! Qualifications which are actually useful! Also...THE WARMASTER FINALLY HAPPENED!!!!
16. What song will always remind you of 2017?
'Let It Snow' by Dean Martin. Because fuck the snow in Belgium! >:(
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier, I think.
b) thinner or fatter? Fatter probably but I think I'm the same.
c) richer or poorer? Richer but only slightly.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Been more selfish and said "No" to more people.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Worrying.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
In Scotland with my family. Back to England on Boxing Day for work on the 27th!
21. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
Probably Neil just sorting out house faff!
22. Did you fall in love in 2017?
Well...there is this boy I like.
23. How many one-night stands?
None! Mostly because I suck at them.
24. What was your favourite TV programme?
Really liked A Series of Unfortunate Events. Season 7 of Game of Thrones wasn't bad but didn't get me as excited as previous seasons. Probably because I cracked and read spoilers that all turned out to be true. That'll teach me, I guess!
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I can't be arsed with hate. Too much effort involved.
26. What was the best book you read?
The second part of A Storm of Swords by George R R Martin.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Not sure. Haven't listened to that much music this year.
28. What did you want and get?
Nice job in Manchester. House.
29. What did you want and not get?
Full driving licence. Lousy snow!
30. What was your favourite film of this year?
Either Jackie or The Disaster Artist. Falling a bit out of love with mainstream cinema/franchise films.
31. What did you do on your birthday?
Was at Redemption so unwrapped gifts in the hotel room (executive suite!) and my friend Ed made me a really nice My Little Pony birthday cake which was shared with con-goers. Played Apples to Apples in the hotel bar with friends. Was a nice low key day :)
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Fewer unreliable people.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2017?
Jeans and geeky t-shirts. Again.
34. What kept you sane?
Friends. Family. The Boy.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Nobody really. I've been a bit boring when it comes to fantasy crushes this year!
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The #MeToo movement. Andy Signore and how Defy Media handled that whole situation really got under my skin as well.
37. Who did you miss?
A few people I used to LARP with, oddly enough.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Met loads of awesome folk at the Black Library Weekender, made a load of geeky roleplaying friends in Manchester and met the lovely Natasja both online and in the flesh :)
